THE NEW P.U.P IS A STABLE SURFACE FOR MARITIME TASKS
The PUP from Aeré has a lifting capacity of 2,000 pounds, making it handy for lifting heavy objects off the sea floor. As a portable, lightweight floating derrick, the PUP is ideal for salvage work and heavy object relocation. When used as a rescue for stranded marine wildlife, the PUP provides a means to return them to deeper water. A draft of less than 5” allows for use in shallow waters, where most boats can’t venture.
Measuring just 16’ x 8’ with inflatable hulls, the PUP has a total work surface of 64 square feet. It stores away easily in a 2’ x 2’ x 8’ box, but doesn’t require a trailer and can be ready for use in less than 15 minutes. The PUP can be equipped with many options, including a quadric frame mounting assembly with a winch and center deck opening, side rails, bimini top, dive steps and platform, and front trampoline. The PUP can be launched, used and recovered by one person.

INFLATABLE FENDERS HELP SAVE VINTAGE YACHT
Aeré inflatable fenders are used on many of the world’s most luxurious yachts to protect their hulls from damage during docking. But the fenders recently served a much different purpose in order to help save the Eilean, a 73’ vintage wooden yacht.
The restoration is taking place on the island of Martinique, but to get the Eilean there, the boat had to be towed 200 miles from where it was docked in Antiqua. Originally intended to serve as a floating belt to help lower the risk of sinking, 4’ x 10’ and 4’ x 5’ fenders were actually placed inside the ship and used as an emergency buoyancy system. Zacboats of Florence, Italy, is financing the project.
Fortunately, the weather cooperated with the first leg of the rescue operation and the sea was calm. Still, Enrico Zaccagni of Zacboats was glad to have the fenders to guard against a possible catastrophe. “The weather was calm so we had very little stress to the yacht,” he said. “But the floating supply from Aeré was the best insurance.”
Aeré offers a full line of inflatable boat fenders to accommodate boats of all sizes. Over 20 sizes and types of Aeré fenders are available, ranging from 12” x 29” through 4’ x 20’ dual chambered models. The fenders are manufactured using extremely durable materials and high-quality air valves.
